Library in Pignon, Haiti

Olivet Baptist Church as been sending mission teams to Haiti for several years. In 2005, God gave a vision to Colleen Burt to establish a library for the people of Pignon-in particular, for children. Imagine if children in Des Moines had no school library, no public library, no local bookstores, and no money to buy the very few books that are occasionally available in the market place. That is the situation in most of Haiti-it is the situation in Pignon.

Because of the dedication of many volunteers at Olivet and the financial support from even more people at Olivet and in the community-the library building is nearing completion. Now that’s where you come in—-WE NEED YOUR HELP. For only $20 you can purchase a book for the Olivet Library of Pignon. For each book you purchase you will receive a bookplate for you to write a personal note to these dear people. In addition you will receive a bookmark to keep for yourself, give to a friend, or send along to be placed in the book.
